John Creech
John Creech is a musician who has written original music and studied his primary instrument, the guitar, for forty years. He has studied music theory, composition, and arranging in the western classical and jazz traditions, and has pursued a keen interest in the esoteric and mystical aspects of music.
He played and performed with numerous groups in the Baltimore-Washington area, most notably with the instrumental Jazz-Fusion group “Thin Air” for over ten years. Since moving to Vermont in 1993 he has performed with Katherine Quinn and “Fifth Season”, Gabe Tesoriero and “The Greys” and was a founding member of “Cloud People” an original rock group. He was a contributing composer and founding member of ”Red Thread”, an eclectic jazz quartet. His passion for the instrument led to his business, Burlington Guitar and Amp, which served the local music scene in Burlington for nearly a decade. He lives with his wife, painter Emily Bissell Laird, and his children Oliver and Annabelle in Charlotte, Vermont. |
Cobey Gatos
Cobey Gatos is an accomplished keyboard player and composer. He formed his first band in the fifth grade, and hasn't stopped playing and writing music since. Cobey has studied electronic music and composition with Gerald Shapiro, jazz piano with Jaki Byard, jazz theory with Gerry Bergonzi, and piano with Catherine Merena Baird. He performed extensively in the Boston area before settling in Vermont in 1989.
In recent years, Cobey has given solo performances, accompanied, school choruses, and appeared with a variety of jazz and rock groups. His compositions have been performed by small ensembles, jazz big bands, and concert bands. Cobey lives with his wife MaryAnne just down the street from John. |
Dov Michael Schiller
DOV MICHAEL SCHILLER
Music Educator,, Percussionist/Drummer Musical Director, Artistic Advisor/Contractor, Pianist & Music Therapist Boston Native, Dov Michael Schiller began his journey and passion for all things percussive at the age of five after being gifted a hand drum on the streets of Jerusalem in 1977. Now a dedicated and innovative Music Educator, professional freelance percussionist, drummer & timpanist, Dov continues to strike things that create a plethora of sounds & rhythms to enhance the overall tapestry of musical color needed for any project at hand. Schiller had the pleasure of attending the New England Conservatory of Music during the hotbed of the 1980's where he studied and worked with a number of fine jazz, third stream & klezmer luminaries. Being inspired by such incredible performers such as Fred Buda, Rakalam Bob Moses, Stan Strickland, Miroslav Vitous, Gunther Schuller, Dave Holland, Ran Blake, George Russell, Hankus Netsky, Jimmy Giuffre, Clark Terry, John Medeski, Stephen Drury and Rob Scheps to name just a few. In addition, Dov enjoyed studying with many of the Boston Symphony Orchestra percussion & timpani faculty such as Arthur Press, Frank Epstein and Vic Firth. After touring in Europe for 10 years with various Broadway Musical Theater tours as both percussionist and set drummer, Dov is now based in the Green Mountains of Vermont but maintains a busy touring schedule with an incredible array of musical projects throughout New England, New York City and Los Angeles. Schiller has had the pleasure of working with an incredibly diverse group of artists over the years. Sir Michael Tippet, Ben Schwendener, Joel Grey, Wes Wirth, Arlo Guthrie, Peter, Paul & Mary, John Adams, Mr Ho's Orchestrotica, Featuring the music of Juan Esquivel, Liz Swados, Amanda Palmer, Stuttgart Ballet, Shyamdas, Clay Aiken, David Friedman, Rachel Bissex, Carl Roskott, Chita Rivera and Leonard Bernstein to name a few. Dov has two incredible children, raised here in the Green Mt’s and now attending both Prescott College and Champlain College, focusing on both Inter-Disciplinary Arts, Journalism, Theater, Social & Environmental Justice as well as Psychology with a focus on Dance Therapy. Currently Dov can be seen and heard with the Greenbush Trio, Ariel Zevon, 4RHYTHM, Julie Silver as well as frequent Musical Theater and Orchestral engagements.
